Friday Night Flies – Ribbed Pheasant Tail Nymph
Friday Night Flies – Ribbed Pheasant Tail Nymph has been the hot pattern this week on the local lakes. So much so that Pro Tyer Scott LeBoldus has taken to making as many colour variations as possible. The Pheasant Tail Nymph pattern is well known to both river and stillwater anglers and for good reason. It produces consistently throughout the year. Altho it is generally used as a Baetis and Caddis Nymph pattern, the modern versions of this fly lend themselves to many of the creatures that live under the water. English Riverkeeper Frank Sawyer is credited with the original Pheasant Tail Nymph Fly but like Scott’s variation, many today have built upon its foundation. The addition of legs and the Peacock Herl thorax makes this, one fishy fly. Try it out in your own colour variations and enjoy the show.
