Friday Night Flies – Salmon Fry Clouser
The Salmon fry Clouser is a simple spin off of the traditional clouser. Add a couple grizzly hackles and a dubbing head and this traditional clouser just got a whole lot sexier. Being that it is that time of year when Salmon fry start to make an appearance from the reds. I suggest using this pattern with a sink tip line and a relatively short leader no less than 8LBS. Typically, I will run a straight leader of 12LBS test that is 5′ long. The reason I run a heavier leader is for the simple reason that this weighted fly will be bouncing the bottom regularly if fished properly. There is also the great chance you could hook a very large predatory fish with this fly. Hang on tight and be ready!
