Friday Night Flies – Mylar Moto Minnow
Friday Night Flies – Mylar Moto Minnow
On occasion I will think of a new pattern based on improving an old pattern or putting an FNF twist on it. As of late I’ve been on a Mylar trip for one reason because it is very fishy. Mylar is very easy to work with and predatory fish seem to find very attractive. This pattern can be tied in a multitude of sizes ranging in size from 8 – 1/0 depending on bait size. I typically find that a Mustad Hook R75-79580 2XH/5XL in Sizes 2 and 4 are my go to size for most of the streams in the Pacific Northwest. This will give you a minnow pattern ranging in overall size between 2.5″ – 3″. This fly can be tied in a range of different colors, my favorites being all White, Wood Duck and Pink.
